Anytime I go out to dinner, I make sure to kick off my meal with a bowl of delicious French onion soup. After all, as it combines three of my favorite ingredients — cheese, bread, and onions — what’s not to like?
Sadly, I have yet to be able to replicate this yummy soup in my own kitchen, although this loaded potato soup is easy enough to make at home as a nice alternative.
But, finally, I’ve found a super simple recipe that helps me make French onion soup… with a twist!
This exclusive video shows how to make French onion soupsticks in a few easy steps. These are perfect to serve as an appetizer at dinner, or as a tasty snack at any get-together.
I had no idea that I could make soup into a finger food, but these really do taste just like French onion soup!

Ingredients
- 2 onions, sliced
- 1 can beef stock
- 6 slices bread
- 6 slices provolone cheese
- 6 slices Swiss cheese
- Instructions
- In saucepan, caramelize sliced onions.
- Pour in beef stock.
- Cut crusts off of bread slices and flatten with a rolling pin.
- Top each bread slice with a slice of provolone (cut in halves) and a slice of Swiss cheese.
- Scoop 1 Tbsp. caramelized onions on top of cheese.
- Roll slices tightly.
- In saucepan, cook roll-ups over medium heat, flipping when golden brown.
- Serve and enjoy!
