Igrew up on an island, so it should come as no surprise that I’m a little picky about seafood.
If I’m going to enjoy a recipe featuring fish or shellfish, it has to be fresh, fresh, fresh, and packed with flavor! After all, seafood is usually on the pricy side; it’s just not worth the expense to order something and have it come out tasting bland and recently frozen.
That’s why I’m a big believer in preparing fish myself whenever I can, using recipes like this easy-peasy technique for preparing delicious spring salmon.
Making seafood at home is way cheaper than ordering it, and you always know where the ingredients came from.
My latest favorite is a spicy twist on a cocktail classic. Next time you stop to pick up a chilled shrimp cocktail for your next party, consider grabbing some fresh jumbo shrimp instead, and making a deliciously zesty snack your guests will rave about!
Be sure to watch the video below, then print out the easy recipe below to make these at home!
1 package egg roll wrappers
1 Tbsp. flour
3 Tbsps. hot sauce
1 Tbsp. soy sauce
1/2 Tbsp. rice vinegar
1 tsp. sesame oil
3 cloves of garlic
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 Tbsp. sugar
Garlic salt, to taste
In a bowl, combine sugar, sesame oil, rice vinegar, soy sauce, and hot sauce.
Add garlic, lime zest, lime juice, and salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly.
Add as many shrimp as desired to marinade, let soak.
In a separate bowl, add water to flour and mix to form paste.
Cut egg roll wrappers in half diagonally, then wrap one shrimp in each half.
Use flour paste to "glue" wrappers closed. Repeat with each shrimp.
Fry shrimp in vegetable oil, cooking 2 to 3 minutes on each side.
When shrimp are golden-brown, serve hot and enjoy!
