From childhood to adulthood, spaghetti and meatballs has always been one of my favorite dishes. And I don’t think I’m alone in my fondness for this amazing Italian dish.
Fortunately for spaghetti-and-meatball-lovers, there are quite a few recipes out there that put a delicious twist on this traditional meal, such as this yummy, but healthy spaghetti squash and meatballs alternative.
But in all of the variations I’ve tried, I have absolutely never spotted a recipe quite as unique — and delicious — as this one!

It might just look like an ordinary meatball from the outside, but one bite will leave any Italian-food fan wanting more.

Ingredients
- 3 lbs. ground beef
- 1/2 onion, diced
- 1 Tbsp. parsley, chopped
- 2 tsps. garlic, crushed
- 2 eggs
- 1 Tbsp. plain seltzer
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup romano cheese, shredded
- 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- Spaghetti
- 1 tsp. salt
- Basil leaves, chopped
- Marinara sauce
- Parmesan cheese, shredded
- Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 °F.
- In large mixing bowl, mix ground beef, onion, parsley, 1 tsp. garlic, eggs, seltzer, bread crumbs, romano cheese, and Worcestershire sauce.
- Add 1/4 cup olive oil and pasta to boiling water.
- Cook pasta, drain, and set aside.
- In saucepan, sauté 1 tsp. garlic in 1/4 cup olive oil for 1 minute.
- Add salt, pasta, basil leaves, and 1 1/2 cups of marinara sauce, then stir.
- Place aluminum foil over a small oven-safe bowl.
- Place beef into bowl and mold to the shape of the container.
- Pour pasta into center of beef bowl.
- Shape beef into a ball around pasta, and cover with foil.
- Bake for 1 hour at 350 °F.
- Top with marinara sauce and Parmesan cheese.
- Serve and enjoy!
